Aston Elementary School student Ella Abbott has earned first place in the 4th grade division of the Young Poets of Delaware County Poetry Contest for her poem, “Heartbroken.”
Hosted through Delaware County Libraries, the annual contest recognizes outstanding student poetry from across the county. Ella was the only student from Penn-Delco School District in grades 1–12 to receive a winning honor in this year’s competition.
As part of her achievement, Ella will be recognized during a special awards ceremony on May 31.
Contest judges praised Ella’s poem for its emotional depth and courage, sharing the following comments:
“Heartbroken is a poem that expresses feelings with honesty and bravery.”
